Overview
The Kensington Woods Schools Early College Program is an Early Middle College (EMC) program and allows students to earn up to an associate degree or a career/tech professional certificate in addition to their high school diploma over a 5 year course of study. The Kensington Woods Early College program is designed with the Kensington Woods mission in mind - developing strong relationships with students to support their academic success. The Early College program will provide support to students throughout their 13th year, supporting to and through the transition to college. Kensington Woods Early College students stay connected to the Kensington Woods family while they become successful college students.
Program options for Kensington Woods Early College students include:
up to 60 transferable college credits
An associate degree
A professional certification
The Michigan Early Middle College Association (MEMCA) technical certificate (which combines college credits with service and work study opportunities)
Participation in a registered apprenticeship
The Kensington Woods Early College will partner with Washtenaw Community College (WCC) to provide students programs that focus in the following areas:
Focus: Transferable to a 4 year university

Associates in General Studies (AGGSD)
Associates in Computer Science: Programming in Java (ASCSPJ)
Associates in Human Services (AAHUST)
Focus: Prepare for Career Tech
Certificate in Welding and Fabrication Principles (CTWLDS)
Certificate in Automotive Services Technician (CTASVT)
Certificate in Robotics Technician (CTROBT)
Certificate in Advanced Manufacturing (CNC) – Operation Technician (CTMTOT)
Focus: The Arts
Certificate in Graphic Design (CFGDTC)
Certificate in 3D Animation (CTANI)
Certificate in Audio Production and Engineering (CTMPEA)
Associates in Fine Arts (AAFAA)
Additional programs may be available
Students can enroll in the Early College program for their 10th or 11th grade year.
The Early College program includes preparatory classes for interested 9th grade students and seminar classes to support students enrolled in the program navigate the post-secondary environment and build skills for success. This is in addition to the regular Kensington Woods curriculum that all students will participate in.
Students enrolled in the Early College program still have access to all programs at Kensington Woods, including athletics, extracurricular, art, music and academic support, even through the fifth year as well as access to all the opportunities (clubs, academic support, career guidance, etc.) that WCC offers as well!
