Choir, Garage Band, Chamber Singers: Where Music Transforms Lives at Kensington Woods

Music pulses through the halls of Kensington Woods (KWoods). Students in grades 6-12 discover their voices, literally and figuratively, while building the confidence that carries them far beyond graduation. Best of all, they do it tuition-free.

Finding Your Sound Across Musical Styles

Our music program embraces diverse musical styles and formats. Garage Band sessions buzz with energy as students learn and play popular music, both classic hits and current favorites. Meanwhile, our Chamber Singers dive deep into intricate harmonies that turn math into music.

Whether students gravitate toward our instrumental bands or prefer to develop their voices through our three choir levels (middle school choir, Concert Choir, and Chamber Singers), every musician finds their place to grow.

Picture this: a sophomore discovers their voice can anchor an entire choir section. Down the hall, a quiet eighth-grader learns to play their favorite songs. In Chamber Singers, a junior realizes they can sight-read complex arrangements that looked impossible last semester. Each path reveals something different about what students can become when they find their musical home.

We recognize that musical expression takes various forms. Our job is to nurture whatever makes individual students feel alive.

Beyond the Performance: Building Tomorrow's Leaders

Music at KWoods transforms students into confident communicators and collaborative leaders. When a shy seventh-grader steps up to their first solo in middle school choir, they're building the same courage they'll need to present in boardrooms or lead community initiatives years later.

Our scholars perform at local festivals and collaborate across disciplines—merging music with visual arts, technology, and storytelling. These experiences create dynamic connections.

The magic happens in our weekly faculty meetings, where teachers ensure every student finds their place. With our 11:1 student-teacher ratio, we spot the songwriter who might need encouragement, the natural leader ready to conduct, and the technical wizard who can engineer our next recording session.

Our graduates carry these musical experiences into careers and lifelong passions. They understand that music teaches patience, persistence, and the power of working together toward something beautiful.
