Cross Country is Underway, but It's Not too Late to Join!
In the fall, the Running Bears will begin the third season of KWoods Cross Country! Students who are interested in running can get a head start this summer by training with members of the team on weekly Fun Runs throughout the area. Although Cross Country can seem like an intimidating sport, its really not! As a team, we work with each runner at the fitness level that they start at, working to get them into race shape! And the summer provides us a great head start to the fall!
If you are interested in running Cross Country in the fall, contact Mrs. Pratt (the coach) at jpratt@kwoods.org or click here for more information.
Recent Accomplishments of KWoods Students and Staff
There is always amazing things going on at KWoods, but recently, there has been some extra special accomplishments that we would like to highlight. These accomplishments reflect what is special and unique about Kensington Woods.
Teacher Bob Gluth and KWoods Junior Will Hazel and Sophomore Matt Uhley traveled to Washington D.C. recently to lay a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The honor of laying a wreath goes to only a select few and is truly an honor.
While in DC, the three also toured Arlington Cemetery, saw the Prince of Denmark who was watching the changing of the guard and visited the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial and the WWII Memorial. They also toured the Capitol Building, visited the Bureau of Printing and Engraving to see money printed, toured the National Archives, had lunch in the Senate Dining Room and went to the offices of some of our Congressmen and Senators. The were also able to see the Presidential motorcade and the President, who waved at them!
Recently, the Boys' Baseball and Girls' Soccer teams gathered together for a night of celebration and good food at the Spring Sports Banquet. All players received awards for their dedication to their teams and their sports.

Special thanks go to the coaches and managers (Allan Honey, Dennis McElhone, Tina Honey and Jim Clark) and parents who supported our season!
In the first week of March, students in Mrs. Pollman's Advanced Algebra 2 & Trigonometry submitted statistics posters for the 2010 Michigan Statistics Poster Competition. Seniors Katelynn Kozbial and Andy Hennig placed 1st and 3rd respectively. Katelynn's poster, "What's Really Under the Sea," (on left) went on to the State and National competition and the results are in! Katelynn's poster took first in the state and third in the nation!
