Program

At Kensington Woods, we strive to challenge students with a personal environment with high academic expectations. We also work to give students flexibility in their learning environment so that each student can learn in the way that is best for them. Because of this, we have a variety of academic programs, including our day program, FlexTrac program and Dual Enrollment with Cleary University.

Day Program

The day program at Kensington Woods High School offers students a personal high school experience focused on college preparation and high academic achievement. The day program offers a variety of levels of courses, including AP courses as well as a variety of electives, including foreign language, art and School Store.

A unique element of the KWHS curriculum is that practical application is stressed and highlighted at all grade levels, especially in 11th and 12th grade through community resource study opportunities and internships. We understand the value of weaving real-world experiences into classroom learning. This approach allows our students to understand the relevancy of the material they are studying and also to understand how we want them to apply their learning in the real world.

FlexTrac Program

The FlexTrac Program offers self-motivated students flexibility through a self-paced academic experience that allows them to work during the day and go to school during the evening. FlexTrac combines computer-based and teacher-led courses for students to earn their academic credits. Elective credits can be earned through a variety of methods, including co-op, internships, Community Resource classes or select Day Program classes.

KWHS’s evening courses use a comprehensive online courseware system that delivers a standards-based, interactive curriculum with integrated assessment. This self-paced, individualized, computer-based instruction offers flexibility for students to not only move at their own pace with the assistance of their teacher, but also to take pre-assessments before beginning a class, so they are placed at the appropriate skill level in their courses. Dual Enrollment with Cleary University

Cleary University, in partnership with KWHS, offers a unique opportunity for junior and senior students to take college-level courses while still in high school. Students that successfully complete this program may enter Cleary University with sophomore standing, having completed the entire freshmen year courses while in high school. In addition to obtaining a jump on a college degree one year ahead of the typical graduate, significant college tuition savings are realized because 51 quarter credits have been accumulated. Students receive a Cleary transcript for courses completed. All courses apply toward Cleary University undergraduate degree programs. Students can take courses in one of two tracks: Early College Business or Information Technology.
